What is a Tip Pool?
A Tip Pool is a common practice in the restaurant and service industry: all tips collected during a shift are pooled together and distributed fairly among staff based on each role's contribution weight. Servers who directly interact with guests typically receive the highest weight, while kitchen and support staff receive slightly lower weights.
How should weights be set?
Common practice: Server(5) > Bartender(4) > Runner/Kitchen(3) > Host/Busser(2). You can also choose "Custom" for flexible adjustments. Higher weight means a larger share β someone with weight 5 earns 2.5x more than someone with weight 2.
Are calculations accurate?
The system calculates proportionally by weight, rounded to the nearest cent. Due to rounding, totals may occasionally differ by Β±0.01 β the system auto-detects and corrects any discrepancy.
