Chinese characters are identified by Unicode range (CJK Unified Ideographs) and counted separately from English words. Both counts are displayed separately.
English words are separated by spaces and punctuation. Consecutive letter sequences count as 1 word. For example, 'hello world' counts as 2 words.
Separated by consecutive newlines. Consecutive non-empty text blocks count as 1 paragraph. Text before and after a single newline belongs to the same paragraph.
