Zero dependencies ยท Data never leaves your deviceDB (Defined Benefit): employer guarantees a fixed benefit = final salary ร years ร benefit rate. DC (Defined Contribution): you and employer contribute to an investment account, retirement income depends on accumulated balance.
The benefit rate is the percentage of your final salary earned per year of service in a DB plan. Typically 1.5-2%. Working 30 years at 1.5% = pension of 45% of your final salary.
Employers typically match up to a cap. E.g., 100% match up to 6% means if you contribute 6%, employer adds 6%. If you contribute 8%, employer still only matches 6%.
In DC plans, your account balance is distributed over your expected retirement years (life expectancy - retirement age). A longer life expectancy means smaller monthly payments.
