How to Use Password Strength Tester

Three steps to use Password Strength Tester.

  1. Enter Password
Type the password you want to test. Analysis happens in real-time as you type.
  2. Review Analysis
Check strength level, entropy score, crack time, and character coverage details.
  3. Improve Your Password
Follow suggestions to strengthen your password. Add character types, increase length, and watch the strength meter improve.

❓ FAQ

How does the password strength tester work?
The password strength tester analyzes character composition (uppercase, lowercase, digits, symbols), length, and patterns to assess security. It uses entropy calculation (in bits) to measure randomness and estimates brute-force cracking time.
Is my password sent to a server?
Absolutely not. All analysis happens locally in your browser. Password data never leaves your device. You can safely test any password, including ones you actively use.
What is password entropy?
Password entropy measures the randomness and unpredictability of a password, expressed in bits. Higher entropy means a more secure password. Generally, 60+ bits of entropy is recommended. A 12-character random password has about 71 bits of entropy.
How is crack time estimated?
Crack time estimation is based on current mainstream hardware (e.g., RTX 4090 GPU) hash rates. We use conservative estimates of 10 billion attempts per second. Actual speed depends on attacker hardware and hash algorithm.
What makes a strong password?
A strong password typically includes: at least 12 characters, a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols, no common words or personal info. Avoid keyboard patterns (like qwerty), repeated characters, or common password patterns.
Can this tool test all types of passwords?
Yes. You can test any password type, from simple numeric PINs to complex multi-character passwords. The tool supports analysis of passwords over 50 characters and provides detailed security feedback and improvement suggestions.
