How to Use

Upload an image, adjust the sharpening intensity with the slider, and preview the result in real time. Download as PNG or JPEG. All processing happens locally in your browser — your images never leave your device.

❓ FAQ

Is this tool free?

Completely free, no registration or download required.

Do my images go through a server?

No. This is a purely client-side tool. All operations happen locally in your browser.

What is Laplacian sharpening?

Laplacian sharpening is a classic image processing algorithm. It uses the Laplacian operator to detect edges in the image, then amplifies their contrast. Mathematically: sharpened pixel = original pixel + intensity × Laplacian value. This algorithm is computationally efficient and produces natural-looking results for most images.

What sharpness level should I use?

Start with an intensity around 0.5 and adjust from there. For slightly blurry photos, 0.3-0.8 is usually sufficient. For images needing significant clarity improvement (like scanned documents), try 1.0-2.0. Intensities above 3.0 may introduce noticeable noise.

Will sharpening distort my image?

Moderate sharpening won't cause noticeable distortion. However, excessive sharpening may produce white halos (overshoot) or graininess around edges. Watch for bright outlines or increased noise — if visible, reduce the intensity. The tool uses an optimized sharpening kernel to minimize distortion.
