About Gzip Compression
What is Gzip?
Gzip (GNU zip) is one of the most commonly used compression algorithms, widely used to compress HTTP responses on web servers, compress log files, and more. It is based on the DEFLATE algorithm and typically compresses text data by 60-80%.
When to use the Gzip Compressor
- Compress HTML/CSS/JavaScript code to reduce size
- Compress JSON/XML and other text data
- Compress log files and plain text
- Less effective for already-compressed formats (images, video, ZIP)
Privacy Guarantee
All operations are completed locally in your browser using the CompressionStream API. Your data is never uploaded to any server.
