How does the flooring calculator work?

Enter your room length and width, select flooring type, input plank dimensions and price per unit, set the waste factor (default 10%), then click Calculate. You'll get the number of planks, boxes, and total cost. Multiple rooms can be added and combined.

What waste factor should I use for flooring?

Accepted Answer

For straight lay, 5%-10% is recommended. For patterned or diagonal installation, use 10%-15%. For complex room shapes, 15%-20%. The default 10% works for most standard installations.

How do I calculate how many boxes of flooring I need?

Accepted Answer

First calculate total area including waste, then divide by the coverage per box and round up. This calculator does this automatically for you.
