π About Child Support
Child support is a court-ordered payment made by the non-custodial parent to the custodial parent for the financial support of their children. It typically covers basic needs including food, housing, clothing, education, and medical care.
Two Calculation Methods:
Percentage Method: Based on a fixed percentage of the payer's income. 1 child=20%, 2=30%, 3=40%, 4+=50%.
Income Shares Method: Combines both parents' incomes, estimates the total cost of raising the child(ren), and splits proportionally based on each parent's income share.
