A persona card is a configuration file that defines the attributes of an AI chat character. Through persona cards, AI models can play specific roles for more consistent and engaging conversations. Cards are typically injected as System Prompts into AI conversations.
Best Practices
- Specific over abstract: Write "speaks using metaphors" not "eloquent"
- Include contradictions: Real characters have contradictions, like "brave but afraid of spiders"
- Set boundaries: Define what the character won't do to avoid going out of character
- Dialogue examples: Provide 2-3 typical lines to help AI understand the style
- Progressive revelation: Set hidden information for the character to reveal gradually
