Use Cases

Learn More

Whois is the Internet domain registration information query protocol, managed by ICANN. Every domain registrar must maintain a Whois database and provide public query access. Due to privacy regulations like GDPR, many registrars now hide registrant personal information (name, email, phone) by default, but technical information such as registrar, dates, and DNS remains public. RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the next-generation replacement for Whois, offering more structured data formats and better access control.

FAQ

What information can Whois lookup provide?

Whois lookup can retrieve domain registrant info, registrar, registration date, expiration date, DNS servers, domain status, and more. Some domains have privacy protection enabled, which may hide registrant details.

Which domain extensions are supported?

All major domain extensions are supported, including .com, .net, .org, .info, .io, .co, .me, .cn, .cc, .tv, .biz, and hundreds of other gTLDs and ccTLDs. The tool automatically selects the correct Whois server for each extension.

Why can't I find registrant information for some domains?

Due to privacy regulations like GDPR, many registrars enable WHOIS privacy protection by default, hiding registrant name, email, and phone. .com and .net domains under ICANN's temporary specification also hide some information.

Are the results accurate?

Results come directly from the domain registry's Whois database, ensuring accuracy. However, data may have up to 24 hours of delay, especially for recently registered or transferred domains.

Is my data safe?

Queries go through public Whois servers, not our servers. Your lookup requests are sent directly to the corresponding Whois database, ensuring privacy.
