FAQ

How thick should topsoil be?

For lawns, 4-6 inches (10-15cm) of topsoil is recommended. For flower beds, 6-12 inches. For vegetable gardens, 8-12 inches. New lawns need at least 6 inches for healthy root growth.

How much does a cubic yard of topsoil weigh?

Dry topsoil weighs approximately 1.2 tons per cubic yard (about 2,400 lbs). Moist topsoil can be heavier at around 1.5 tons per cubic yard.

Bulk vs bagged topsoil — which is better?

For projects over 2 cubic yards, bulk delivery is more cost-effective. Bagged topsoil is convenient for small patches and repairs.
