Equal split: total ÷ number of people, everyone pays the same. Proportional split: each person pays for their own items plus their share of tax and tip. This tool defaults to proportional — fairer when people order differently.
This tool calculates tip on the pre-tax subtotal, which is the standard practice in the US and most countries — you tip on the food, not the tax.
Split wine/drinks separately. Run two separate splits — one for food and one for drinks — so non-drinkers aren't subsidizing alcohol.
All calculations use banker's rounding to the cent. The final total always adds up exactly to the sum of all items + tax + tip with zero rounding error.
