What are Roman numerals?
Roman numerals are an ancient number system using I(1), V(5), X(10), L(50), C(100), D(500), M(1000).
What range is supported?
This tool supports numbers from 1 to 3999. Zero and negative numbers don't exist in Roman numerals.
Why is 4 written as IV not IIII?
The standard rule uses subtractive notation: IV=4. While clocks sometimes use IIII, the standard Roman numeral system uses IV.
